Jack of All Trades: Full Stack Engineer & Testing Expert
About B&R
Bollmann & Roets builds bespoke systems for sales and service in the Mittelstand. You improve our stack and our methodology through client projects and ongoing technical development. Alongside that sits a growing agentic layer, where AI agents take over process steps, with human sign-off at every point that matters. All of it runs on the client's own infrastructure, hosted in the EU.
How We Work Together
- We stand behind what we deliver. Everyone at B&R owns their outcomes: one system, one diagnosis, one satisfied client.
- If something's wrong, we say so. Whoever spots a problem raises it, and helps fix it.
- We challenge each other on substance. Architecture decisions, diagnoses, sales strategy: we argue them out as equals, because every perspective counts.
- We watch each other's backs. When someone's under pressure, the team stands behind them. We deliver together.
What You'll Do
You build the systems B&R delivers. From the database layer to the UI. Your day-to-day:
- Ship features end-to-end. You build the API endpoint, the database logic, and the React component. You see how your code lands with the client.
- Work in real domains. Quote calculation in mechanical engineering, spare parts management, service scheduling, pricing logic: you work inside business processes that demand real domain knowledge.
- Build in agentic capabilities. Alongside classic software builds, you work with the architect to spot where an AI agent actually makes sense. You design and implement agents inside business processes and integrate them into our clients' systems: writing skill files, defining guardrails, maintaining harness configuration, running A/B tests, and documenting all of it.
- Deliver quality that holds up. Tests, clean migrations, commits that make sense on their own. What you build goes into production and stays there: Continuous Tailoring means you'll run into your own code again.
- Work closely with architecture and the client. You work directly with the user. On Discovery Day you understand the context, in the build you turn it into working software.
What We Expect
- Solid full-stack experience in TypeScript: you're as comfortable in React as you are in an API layer. Experience with Bun and Hono is a plus; a Node/Express background works just as well.
- Confident with relational databases. You write migrations that run cleanly in production, and queries that actually perform.
- A real interest in business processes: the drive to keep inventing and building better systems for them is what moves us.
- Ownership and teamwork. You see what needs doing and pick it up, without waiting for someone to assign a ticket. At the same time, you're a real sparring partner on the team: we work on a pull model, review each other's code to get better, and stand behind each other's work.
- Working proficiency in German, confident English in a technical context.
What You'll Get
- An environment that takes pride in clean commits, well-thought-out data models, and queries that perform.
- Projects that go live in weeks: you see results fast, and run into your own code again through Continuous Tailoring.
- Agentic engineering as your working reality: you use AI-supported dev workflows, keep improving them, and build the same capability into client systems.
- Direct influence on architecture and tooling: the stack lives on your decisions too.
- A team that stands up for each other, and client contact if you want it. You'll always know who you're building for.
